Let me guess, you realized that you keep skipping breakfast and you want to make a change? Luckily, you came to the right place. This post will go over one simple way to stop skipping breakfast. It only takes 1 recipe and best of all you do not have to get up earlier in the morning.
There is a number of reasons a person skips breakfast, but according to most studies it is because a person is just not hungry in the morning. We wake up and immediately start our morning routines and food is just not a priority. Some people also suppress their hunger by drinking coffee then we are thinking of food before lunch. That is me! I wake up not hungry, have may coffee, and start my day. Within a couple hours I noticed I was hungry and snacking because it is too early to eat lunch. Whatever your reason for skipping breakfast might be don’t worry after reading this post you won’t have to skip anymore.
How did we get here?
There are many studies on whether eating breakfast improves your health, weight loss goals, and many other aspects of life. Truthfully, I have not read into any of them. For me, the change came from me snacking on M&Ms at 10 o’clock in the morning. When I realized that I was always snacking I decided I needed to make a change and to make a change you have to look from the outside in. What was I doing wrong? Duh, skipping breakfast!
I wasn’t intentionally trying to skip breakfast. I’d wake up and just start my day… with coffee! I do not personally like to get up and eat something heavy like biscuits and gray. Does that sound yummy? Absolutely! However, that is just not what I like to eat every morning before work and getting the kids ready for the day. I’d tried fruit, bagels, toast, and boiled eggs but nothing really made sense. I enjoy hot breakfast, but the truth was I was not going to get up earlier just to cook something when I was not even hungry so I kept skipping breakfast.
Finally, one week my mom and pop came to town and they made a breakfast frittata! If your not sure what a frittata is, it is similar to a crust-less quiche with meat and veggies baked. This was the secret I’d been waiting for! It is quick, healthy, hot and tasty.
Planning Ahead
Once a week, usually Sundays before I start my week while cooking dinner I pull out my 9×13 glass baking and make a frittata. A few eggs, meat, and veggies all in one who could say no? It is healthier than anything I used to eat for breakfast. Just pop one square in the microwave for about 45 seconds and enjoy with your morning coffee. Change up your frittata with bacon, steak, spicy sausage, breakfast sausage, onions, red peppers, jalapenos, anything you’d like! When it comes to slicing it, I recommending cutting into 6 squares so you will have enough for the whole work week PLUS a day for those biscuits and gravy you know you want.
